really, you'd need all of them to make it work

individual beatle "help" shirts: $19,99, damselworld

Weird idea: if you bought all of these and wore them on consecutive days, your friends and coworkers would think someone was holding you hostage.

alternatively, these would make good team shirts for music quiz nerds. buy 'em here.

threadless pick of the week

Timmy Wished for Ray Gun Eyes - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
"timmy wished for raygun eyes" by aaron hogg: $15/17, threadless

without a shadow of a doubt the best threadless shirt printed in the last month. I'm generally a big fan of hogboy's work, and this one manages to blend playfulness with the sinister (somewhat of threadless cliche) in a way that comes off as both fresh and funny. It's just one of those images that fits well on a t-shirt, while leaving an impression beyond the joke appeal of the first look. i definitely love the tasteful use of rasters both for achieving an authentic-looking retro style and for transcending the 4-colour limit of threadless prints. nice attention to detail, too.

mine is in the mail, get yours HERE or by clicking the image above.

take me to the science fair

"newton" t-shirt: £20, design by concrete hermit

this might be the single coolest shirt i've seen all year. shades of joy division's classic unknown pleasures sleeve artwork, but a different beat all together. you really need to see this in person to fully appreciate the moire effect that happens when the fabric bends with the motion of the human body. geeky but elegant, organic but tech-oriented, uniquely simple and effective. A+, get yours from concrete hermit this instant.

prove it!

"i am ten ninjas" $18/19, diesel sweeties

Another fine selection from that oh-so clever source of pixelated t-shirt shaped words of wisdom, diesel sweeties.
Random 8-bit geeky sneakyness gets my dollars, available on American Apparel, Hanes and Bella shirts.

You sure do, honey.

"now argue for hours everywhere"

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
custom list shirts, $28, t-list

Now this is a novel idea indeed....Submit top lists of stuff you like or dislike and have it custom printed on a t-shirt. A fair deal of basic-looking templates to choose from, and some of them actually make decent shirts. Should be perfect for the kind of hipster geek culture junkie who isn't content marking their territory one pop culture referance at a time, I'll definitely be ordering a couple.

if you want one too, this is the place to go.

man-slush

sweater design by grandpeople: $57, available at human empire.

I was surfing the human empire website and i suddenly realized i know the guy who designed this.
But that's not the reason i'm posting it here---I'm doing that because it's fucking awesome. The rough raster effect in combination wit the clean, simple cut and the smooth ooze is what does it for me, i guess.

buy it here.

I actually bought this.

snakes on a plane full colour logo tee, $16,95.

Yeah, yeah...i know. It's not even officially out yet over here yet, ok? This will certainly be retro cool a few years, might as well get a copy now while they're cheap. But people... please. If you're gonna get a snakes on a plane t-shirt, go for the official full colour logo tee. the design pretty much oozes cheesyness in the same way a guns n' roses shirt from the early 90s does, but sometimes that's a good thing. it's certainly not the kind of design i'd normally sport, but it's just so over the top it crosses over into instantly likeable. Just like the movie.

available from geek shop wickedcoolstuff.com.

Best shirt of all time reprinted at threadless

Intramural zombie hunter, $18, seibei.
Looking for an easy way out for that upcoming halloween party? Or do you just like being stopped by cops on the street?
the design isn't too hot in itself (your standard amateur sports team look), but the level of customization makes this awesome. It's available with multiple levels of gore, so you can get it as bloodied (or unbloodied) as you'd like. Not only that, but it's available with a custom player name and number(!) Bloodied cricket bat/ hockey stick not included.

buy it here. an absolute steal at $18.

Octaphant

Red Labor, $24.

Jeez, Resist Today has some amazing stuff. It's all very limited edition, handcrafted and tactile, with nice, heavy inks and sombre colours. Dig the pattern heavy old-timey mutant prints, too. especially this one of a nightmare elephant/octopus hybrid. top notch.

buy at Resist Today.

$18, nerdyshirts.

I love this, it's a clever and well executed spin on the whole chain store sports/number shirt thing. Geeky, but not too geeky. certainly brings back childhood memories. Buy it from the aptly named nerdyshirts

Spiked milk

£18, teemarto

You've got to love A Clockwork Orange, it still feels kinda fresh 35 years later. However, a lot of the poster graphics from the film don't tanslate well to shirts, wich means there are a lot of crappy CO tees out there. It took me forever to find a t-shirt with this graphic, a detail from the cover art of the book, which (in my opinion anyway) makes a far classier t-shirt print due to the boldness and simplicity of the illustration. I couldn't find any images of it online, but I've got this one myself, so i can vouch for its quality. decent (it's got a pretty cool smooth, semi-glossed surface) 2 colour print on bright red medium weight, soft Kustom Kit shirts.

buy it from Teemarto

Elliot's New Friend

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Kevin Ross: "Elliot's New Friend" $18, Go Ape Shirts

I really dig this shirt, it's a nice mashup of two of the films that shaped my (and if you're between 20 and 30, probably your) childhood. perfect colours, and the design is just the right size(meaning fucking huge). Printed on ultra soft AA shirts, highly recommended.

buy it here

Dudes

Jeremy Fish: "dudes", $20, the giant peach.

Now i'm a big fan of the Coen brothers' The big Lebowski so naturally i'd like to have a piece of apparel to reflect that. Problem is, most of the big lebowski shirts out there are just too damn loud and garish. Not this one though. Definitely the classiest big lebowski-themed shirt out there. No-fuss, one colour print with indie comic-type linework, available in light blue and heather. I'd go for the heather myself, it works well with jeans whereas light blue just makes you look as if you're on your way to a smurf convention.

Owl Movement

Yardsale- Jon Knox Griffin $20 (owl movement)
I find that a lot of the time, T-shirts with simple, quirky sketchbook-looking designs are the ones that work best. So here's a favourite from Owl Movement. it's a graphic rendition of that old epitome of randomness, the yard sale, and it's designed by Mr. Jon Knox Griffin. Buy it here.

John&Paul&George&Ringo

$32, krudmart. design by Experimantal Jetset.

"Along with Kraftwerk and James Brown, the Beatles were basically the most influential musicians of all time. What the Jetset's trying to do here though is break 'em down to their essence.. just four basic names. Well, "Ringo"s not that basic. Whatever. Everyone wants this tee."

it's been available for quite some time, and it's possibly a tad pricey at $32, but it's still among the most tasteful fanboy t-shirts i've seen. buy it here
